Checkatrade for Business – Business Terms

Effective from 26th March 2026

1. Introduction

These terms (the "Agreement") govern your use of the Checkatrade for Business service (the "Service").

This Agreement is supplemental to the Platform Terms of Use and Privacy Notice. In the event of any conflict, this Agreement will take precedence in relation to the Service.

2. The Service

Checkatrade for Business enables you to connect with Trades to carry out works.

Through the Platform, we facilitate:

  • the submission and matching of jobs;
  • booking coordination between you and Trades; and
  • payment enablement through the Platform using a third-party payment provider.

We are not a party to any contract between you and a Trade and do not carry out, supervise or guarantee any works.

3. Jobs and Booking

You may submit requests for works through the Platform (each a "job").

Trades may choose to accept a job, or you may accept a quote submitted by a Trade. Once accepted, the job becomes a "booked job".

A contract for the works is formed directly between you and the Trade. You are responsible for agreeing the scope, timing and price of the works.

We do not guarantee that any job will be accepted.

4. Customer Requests (where applicable)

Where enabled, your customers may submit requests through the Platform on your behalf.

You are responsible for reviewing and responding to such requests and for any actions taken in connection with them.

5. Completion

Completion of works and any confirmation or dispute in relation to completion are managed through the Platform.

You must engage with completion processes promptly and in accordance with any requirements communicated via the Platform.

Any disputes relating to the works must be resolved directly between you and the Trade.

6. Payment

Payments for booked jobs are processed through the Platform using a third-party payment provider (the "Payment Provider").

Where this payment method is used:

  • the Payment Provider processes payments in accordance with its terms; and
  • Checkatrade does not hold, receive or control any funds.

Where alternative payment arrangements are made available to you, additional terms may apply.

We are not a party to any payment obligation between you and a Trade and are not responsible for:

  • the payment of any Job Value or other amounts; or
  • any failure by you or a Trade to make or receive payment.

7. Fees

You may be charged fees for use of the Service, including subscription fees and/or transaction-based fees.

Details of applicable fees and how jobs are priced and booked are set out on the Platform and in our How Pricing & Booking Works document, which forms part of this Agreement.

The applicable pricing will be made available to you prior to booking a job.

8. Cancellation

Cancellation of Confirmed Appointments is governed by the applicable Cancellation Policy.

You must comply with any cancellation requirements communicated via the Platform.

9. Your Responsibilities

You must:

  • provide accurate and complete information when submitting jobs;
  • ensure access to the relevant property at the agreed time;
  • comply with all applicable laws and regulations; and
  • engage with the Platform and Trades in a timely and professional manner.

You are responsible for your own acts and omissions and those of:

  • any person acting on your behalf; and
  • any customer, tenant, occupier or other third party in connection with a job, including in relation to access to the property, provision of information and communication with Trades.

10. Use of the Platform

You must use the Platform in accordance with this Agreement and any applicable policies.

You must not:

  • bypass the Platform in order to avoid applicable fees;
  • agree off-platform arrangements that are inconsistent with information recorded on the Platform; or
  • misuse the Platform in a way that may cause harm to Checkatrade, Trades or other users.

We may monitor use of the Service to ensure compliance with this Agreement.

11. Allocation and Availability

Jobs are made available through the Platform and may be matched with Trades based on a range of factors.

We do not guarantee the availability of Trades or any minimum level of service.

12. Liability

We provide the Service as a platform to facilitate connections between you and Trades. We are not responsible for any works, any Trade, or any contract between you and a Trade.

Nothing in this Agreement excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability which cannot lawfully be excluded.

Subject to the above, we shall not be liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for any loss of profit, revenue, business, contracts, anticipated savings, goodwill or data.

Subject to the above, our total liability arising out of or in connection with this Agreement shall not exceed the lower of £2,500 and the total fees paid by you for the Service in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

13. Suspension and Termination

We may suspend, restrict or terminate your access to the Service at any time, including where:

  • you breach this Agreement or any applicable policy;
  • your use of the Service poses risk to us, Trades or other users; or
  • where required for legal, regulatory or operational reasons.

We may take such action without prior notice where reasonably necessary. Suspension or termination may result in your access to the Service being blocked or disabled.

Termination does not affect any rights or obligations accrued prior to termination.

14. Data Protection

We process personal data in accordance with our Privacy Notice.

15. Intellectual Property

All intellectual property rights in the Platform and Service belong to us or our licensors.

16. Changes to the Service

We may update or modify the Service and these terms from time to time. We will provide notice where required.

17. General

This Agreement is governed by the laws of England and Wales and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
